In my particular case, I started using Telegram for work issues and in the end, I have adopted this application as a method to communicate with my friends and family.
Although I still depend on WhatsApp, over the years, I have been reducing my dependency thanks to the large number of advantages of Telegram over WhatsApp.

Delete and edit messages without limitations
Surely on more than one occasion you have wanted to delete a sent message without leaving a trace on WhatsApp. Sure. Although it is true that WhatsApp allows us to delete the messages that we send, due to its operation, it only offers us a maximum limit of 1 hour.
In addition, in the conversation it will show a message informing all the interlocutors of the conversation that we have deleted the message, so it can raise suspicions and unnecessary misgivings.
We will not find this problem in Telegram. In Telegram there is no time limitation to delete a message that we have sent. It doesn't matter if an hour, a month, a year, or 6 months has passed, we will always be able to delete any message sent.
Also, it will not leave any trace on the application.
If we talk about editing messages, once again, the advantages of Telegram over WhatsApp are overwhelming. While Telegram allows us to edit messages on WhatsApp, the only thing we can do is delete the previous message or rewrite what we had written correctly.
Cross-platform and synchronization of chats
Another of the advantages of Telegram over WhatsApp, we find it in its operation. Telegram is cross-platform and all messages are synced between all devices.
WhatsApp, for its part, requires our smartphone to be turned on and connected to the internet at all times in order to use the web version.
Telegram and WhatsApp work differently. While WhatsApp encrypts messages from end to end (from device to device), Telegram stores all messages on a server and from there they are sent to all Telegram applications associated with the same account.
This does not mean that Telegram is less secure, since the messages are sent encrypted from the terminal to the server and from there to all the associated applications. WhatsApp, it claims, does not store any copies of messages on its servers.
Due to the completely different operation of each platform, we can understand why Telegram allows us to edit and delete messages without problems and WhatsApp does not.
No phone number required
Part by part. A phone number is required to register on this platform, just like on WhatsApp. However, our phone number is not one of ours identified in the application.
Once we have registered our phone number, we must create a nickname or nick. This nickname or nick will be our identification on the platform. When someone looks for us, they will have to use our nickname.
Unless we modify the privacy features of the application, no one, absolutely no one, will be able to find us on Telegram with our phone number.
Send files up to 2 GB
WhatsApp allows us to send files with a maximum limit of 100 MB. Telegram, for its part, also allows us to send files of all kinds, but with a maximum limitation of 2000 MB.
Thanks to this large maximum limit when sending files, Telegram is ideal for sharing large files with other people comfortably from a computer without having to resort to platforms such as WeTransfer.
Groups of up to 200.000 people
Telegram groups allow up to 200.000 people, a much higher limit than what we can find on WhatsApp. Thanks to the threads, hashtags and the possibility of answering questions directly, we can be in contact with a large number of people without getting lost in the gigantic groups that this platform offers us.
Unlimited user channels
Another of the main attractions that we find in Telegram is the possibility of creating channels without user limits. Telegram channels are a kind of bulletin boards, where communities can publish information of all kinds so that all the users who compose it can be kept informed.
Use of bots
Thanks to the bots, the management and maintenance of channels and groups is very simple. The bots are small programs that manage, depending on how we configure them, the operation of the channels.
For example, we can configure it so that each new user greets the group or solves a captcha before being able to speak to confirm that they are a person. It can also be set to display the rules of a chat channel or group when new users join.
Two accounts at once
While WhatsApp only allows users to have one account per number, Telegram allows us to create 2 accounts per phone number. In this way, we can separate the work use of Telegram or our personal use.

One of the features that very few users use on Telegram is the ability to send audio video messages. Audio video messages are audio messages like WhatsApp but with our image.
This function is extremely useful when we want to explain something in a simpler way than just with words.

Although the number of interlocutors in calls and video calls is not as high as in WhatsApp (which uses the Messenger platform to make them), with Telegram, we can also make calls and video calls.

The number of customization options that Telegram makes available to us is so high that we can spend several hours to find the design that best suits our needs.
