Connect a Xiaomi mobile to a computer It should be a painless process: something as easy as connecting both devices at each end of the cable, and you're done. It is true that nowadays there is less and less tendency to make phones and computers interact with each other. The connection of these two devices is becoming less frequent, although sometimes, such as to migrate photos from the terminal to a backup hard drive where to keep them, is quite inevitable.
Of course, connecting a Xiaomi mobile to the PC can be quite a headache. In most cases the connection should work without problems, but in case you have them too let's see a few possible solutions.
Connect your Xiaomi to PC with a cable
This is usually the most common way. It also has no mystery: Take the data cable supplied by the manufacturer that came in the phone box, connect the end with USB C connector to the terminal and the end with USB current to the computer.
The next thing will be to wait a few seconds until the computer recognizes the device, and finally display the menu from the top of the phone. A notification will appear informing you that the device is charging, but if you press on it, you will access more options. of which will appear sober pulsa File Transfer. If all goes well, in a few seconds your computer will recognize your phone.
Wirelessly via Wi-Fi
Xiaomi has its own application called ShareMe with which you can connect your mobile to your PC without using a cable. In order to do so, you will have to make sure that both your phone and your PC are connected to the same WiFi network.
Once you've done it, open ShareMe and click on the menu button. After in Share with Webshare and on the button Share. Finally, choose the file you want to share and click on Submit:
A screen with an IP address. If we enter it in the browser, we can download the elements that we wanted to transfer from the phone.
Alternative wireless connection methods
In addition to ShareMe, there are other very popular applications that allow us to access the information stored in our terminals without the need for cables. We refer to AirDroid and Airmore, which work in a very similar way and also work like Alternatives to AirDrop.
AirDroid, at present, is quite restrictive, since does not allow to make the web connection without being registered. And this means that, unless we pay for the performances premium full app, we are limited to 200 MB of transfer. However, despite this inconvenience, AirDroid allows you to control your terminal from your PC without restrictions.
Airmore, on the other hand, is much less restrictive and it allows you to make unlimited transfers (and without paying a dime). Of course, to connect to the PC you will have to click on the menu button and on Get IP, since the method of scanning the QR code has been failing for some time.
Apart from unlimited transfers, AirMore allows you to control your phone from your PC in an easy and painless way, just like AirDroid.
What if neither of these two assumptions works?
If after having tried both ways to connect your Xiaomi to your PC you are unable to do so, here is one method series that could help you solve the problem.
The phone only charges
This could be due to what we told you before put the phone in file transfer mode. Double check that the phone is in the correct mode by pulling down the notification panel and make sure it is not on. Just charge.
I don't see my files
In Xiaomi terminals this, unfortunately, is usually common. It is not due to any phone configuration problem, or because you have touched anything, but because Xiaomi ROMs limit access to the device.
The solution to this problem is through unlock your phone and access your files. If after doing this they still do not appear, you will have to disconnect the terminal, restart it and reconnect it to the computer.
I have a Mac and it does not recognize my device
In the event that you have a Mac, don't despair: you can connect an Android to a machine from the brand of the bitten apple, but it has a trick. You need a special tool so that your Mac recognizes your Android, and for this you have two at your disposal.
The first one is Android File Transfer, which is available to all users on macOS 10.7 and up. With it, the basic functionalities of transferring files between an Android and a Mac are more than covered.
the second tool is none other than OpenMTP, developed by XDA Developers and with extended functionalities. Among them, for example, is that of transferring files larger than 4 GB in a single session. It also allows you to switch the view of the files between the internal memory and the SD card, among other things.
None of the above solutions work
If none of what we have just told you works for you, then you only have to try what we are going to tell you next.
Enable USB debugging
The most common thing is that it is not necessary to resort to this feature, but if none of the above has worked and the screen of your mobile does not work as it should, well worth a try.
In order to access USB debugging you have to have the options for developers activated, which means that you will have to go to the route Settings > About phone > MIUI version y click on it several times until the message appears on the screen !! Congratulations!! You are now a developer! or something similar.
Once this is done, we go to the route Additional settings > Developer options > USB debugging y click on it to activate it.
Once this is done, we just have to connect the phone to the computer again and check that the two devices recognize each other perfectly.
We PC Suite
Despite the fact that this tool has not been updated since 2015, it is still the official one of the brand itself and is key to solve connection problems that Xiaomi users can have with their computers. It is worth clarifying that it is only available for Windows.
This program will allow us to all the file transfer operations that we want from a manufacturer-specific platform; all we have to do is connect it via cable and wait for the program to show us that it recognizes our phone in its file explorer.
