How to delete all your comments from YouTube

Delete all your comments from YouTube

Over the years, we have surely reproduced hundreds of videos on YouTube, leaving comments on several of them. Our opinion regarding one or several issues may change, the need to have a little more privacy is also present and that is when you look for how to delete all your youtube comments

Keep in mind that just like you can delete your comments on a normal video, what you say in a chat on a YouTube live can also be deleted, with the same facilities as a normal comment. This is not something unique on the Google platform, because in direct terms, its most important competitor (Twitch) also allows its users to delete comments.

There are a couple of methods to remove comments from YouTube, our user has access to a list with everything we have said about each video, sorted by date. Having this clear, let's go with the tutorial.

How to access YouTube comment history

The problem with this method is that you have to delete your comments one by one. You may want to delete hundreds of them, so it will take a while.

You can access your YouTube comment history by going to your video history on the web or mobile version of YouTube. In the right corner there is an option that allows you to manage both live and normal comments. Although Google does not allow you to delete all comments at once, a simple click is enough to make a comment disappear. You will not see any confirmation window, so if you want to keep one or another comment, be careful not to delete it by mistake.

How to delete all your YouTube comments from a web browser

step by step delete youtube comments

Deleting comments from the web version of YouTube is faster than in the mobile application (This procedure also works for those who access YouTube through the desktop option in Android Chrome.) The step by step to delete comments would be as follows:

  1. Sign in https://youtube.com/ and log in.
  2. In the left sidebar, you have to click on “History”.
  3. On the screen that opens, look to the right of everything for a small section called “Manage all history”. Below it you can click on “Comments” or “Live Chat”, which are the messages we send during a live broadcast. Get in the comments for now.
  4. You just have to touch the X that is on the comment that you want to delete. Be careful because it will not show you any confirmation window, it will only delete the comment. After deleting it, you'll have a couple of seconds to undo the action by tapping on a notification that pops up at the bottom of the screen.
  5. When you're done deleting comments, you can also go to the messages section in live chat, and delete them in the same way.

Hiding the channel

There is another more drastic way to delete comments on YouTube, which is also linked to the deletion of your account on the platform; it's all about hiding your channel (or regular account) and any comments, posts, or videos you've posted.

To do this you have to enter YouTube Studio from a web browser. You can also use Chrome desktop mode on Android, because the Youtube Studio app on the Play Store doesn't have the option to hide or delete a user's channel.

Since we are, to hide the channel you can do the following:

  1. Sign in https://youtube.com/ and log in.
  2. Click on your profile (the top right corner) and select the “YouTube Studio” option.
  3.  On the left look for the “Settings” option and click it.
  4. Within the settings click on the “Channel” section.
  5. There is a tab called “Advanced Settings”, click on it.
  6. Scroll down until you find a button that says “Hide content”.
  7. You will be redirected to another Google page to enter your authentication data.
  8. You will see a button to hide the channel and you will be asked one last time if you agree. Proceed to hide the channel.

You won't be able to make new comments or post videos until you re-enable your account, similar to how you hid it.

You can use either of these two methods at your convenience, but I recommend that you manually delete all comments, either from the mobile app or your computer. It may be a longer process, but you avoid headaches by hiding and reactivating an entire channel.
