Mobile phones have evolved over the years in terms of hardware, important to be able to perform with applications and games on the market. Many smartphones mount processors, memory and storage to spare to use several apps at the same time without noticing any shock.
Many applications on the phone are usually in the open process, even some are often in the background without us knowing. It is best to decide for ourselves which application is, that is something that thanks to the adjustments we will be able to do in a matter of a few steps.
If you usually listen to music from YouTube, it is best to put it in the background and run while you do another function with the phone, for example writing for an application or sending an email. You can do it with the official application, although you also have others that fulfill the same function.
Can I put any app in the background?
The answer is yes. Some applications by default usually work in the background, making them load faster when opening them. This will not affect the performance of the phone much, although if you do not usually use this application, it is best to consider ending its process, to save battery life.
To find the applications in the background you have to access the Developer Options, this is a process that you must carry out in a few steps. The steps to follow are those:
- Access Settings on your mobile device
- Within Settings look for System and then the option that says “About phone”, here click on Software Information and finally click on Build Number a total of seven times until it shows you a message
- It will tell you that you have unlocked the Developer Options, so you will have access to more advanced settings
Know what applications I have in the background
Once you have access to the developer mode you will be able to know which apps are in the background, many of them make the battery consumption lower. Autonomy is important, especially if you usually spend a lot of time on the street, so removing some will make it last much longer.
If you are already a "Developer" after completing the previous step, the next step is to verify which apps are in the background. To find out which apps are in the background, do the following:
- Access the phone's Settings
- Once inside look for “Developer options”, go to Running services
- It will show you a list with the consumption of RAM memory, an aspect that in the end is considered important to free it if you do not use certain apps
Stop background apps
Wanting to stop a background app, it is best that you stop, in addition to uninstalling if you finally do not use it, since it usually takes up space and consumes memory. If it is an application that comes pre-installed, you can stop it and disable it so that it does not start at any time.
The first method is training in the developer options, once inside look for the option that says “Limit background processes”, click on it and select “No background processes”. This will limit the number of applications running in the background, increasing the consumption of RAM memory, and therefore, the autonomy of the phone.
Put YouTube in the background
Without the need to install applications, putting YouTube in the background can be done thanks to Mozilla Firefox, a browser that many users usually have installed on their phone. Some time ago you could listen to music without installing an extension, although this has changed over time.
The Firefox extension that will make YouTube continue running in the background is Video Background Play Fix, it is free and quick to install in the browser. Executing it will be enough, since it will make the player not pause and keep broadcasting a video, whether it's from your favorite streamer or a music-type one.
To install Video Background Play Fix, do the following:
- Launch Mozilla Firefox on your phone, if you don't have it you can download it from the Play Store from this link
- To download the Video Background Play Fix extension, tap here
- Once you download it, click on “Add”, this will take you to the app in just a few seconds to start installing and running
- Open any YouTube playback and hit Play, now you can minimize the app, have the screen turned off or do other tasks with the phone and continue listening to your favorite artist in the background
- It will show you a small notification at the top, being able to pause what you are listening to, all this without having to open the browser completely, if what you want is to close it, click on it and close the browser as you usually do
Put in the background using Google Chrome
There is the option of being able to listen to YouTube in the background without having to subscribe to the Premium option of the platform. It is a matter of using the Google Chrome browser, an application that is installed by default on all Android phones, at least on the vast majority of devices.
The process to be carried out is as follows:
- Launch Google Chrome on your Android device
- Enter the URL of Youtube.com and wait for it to load
- In the menu of the three points that is located on the right side, select the option that says “Computer view”, click on it
- Go to the video you want to play at that moment
- Quit the app
- Now resume playback from notification bar, it will show you a mini player
With Google Chrome you won't need to download anything, however in Firefox you have to install an addon, depending on the browser you use it will be convenient to do it, since it will take less than a minute in the case of Chrome, in Firefox the time amounts to approximately two minutes , depending on how quickly you install the extension.
